One Sunday, me and some college batchmates attended a holy mass together. I was deeply touched by the homily about the types of giving and I wouldn’t want to forget it, so I’m sharing it all to you:
1. Grudge Giving – Regretting about what you have given. You always look back wishing you’ve not given out those things.
2. Obliged Giving – You give because you feel obliged to. An example of this is during mass contributions.
3. Calculated Giving – Expecting that the favor will be returned back to you. Also included is giving out those with little or no importance at all to you.
4. Thanksgiving – Being grateful in what you gave & what you received. One good example is when Jesus Christ gave His life to save the mankind without any hesitation. We all should be thankful for that wonderful chance.
It is with the last one in which I want to be identified with. Along with the happiness is the gratefulness for God has given me the skills, courage, and resources so I have the opportunities to uplift the status of my family. And for the times I nearly fell to the pit of failures and sins, He held and urged me to go.
Reflecting more, I realized that what I’ve been striving for is out of the gratefulness to my parents for trusting and supporting me all these years. And it’s my turn now to repay them through my siblings who serve as my inspiration as well.
And to the Sisters of Mary, if God will permit, I wish to contribute more in the coming years.
“Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam! Let us serve the Lord with joy!”
