I’ve always been a fan of adventure movies like that of Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings so I find it kind of boring to see drama films especially when you’re riding a bus to work early in the morning. But this movie entitled UNFAITHFUL starred by the legends Claire Danes and Richard Gere stirred up some great thoughts in my mind. For those who do not have any idea about the said title, it is about a family shattered by deceit. A plain, aging, and bored housewife was tempted and eventually got hooked up with a young gigolo. Feeling guilty and discovering that she ( Danes) isn’t the only woman in his life, she tried to break up with him but it’s too late; the husband (Gere) has already found out about their illicit affair. Determined to keep the family intact, he tried confronting the guy which ended up with the latter’s death. The now reunited couple tried getting away from the crime. But not all secrets are bound to be kept forever. In the end, the wife had lost everything – her husband is in jail and their son hates her.
Relating it to the real- life situation, I know a story of a 52 year old man who has served a company since he was 22 years old. As a reward for his loyalty, the management secretly prepared a gift of house and lot property plus some big cash. But the man, feeling and thinking that his works were not recognized, hid a special product he thought would last his family a week supply of food. Unfortunately, he was caught and got terminated from the job without his retirement benefits. He was already out of the company when he found out from a former co- worker about the surprise reward for him. That night, he died of depression. What’s more sad, the company didn’t even bother to look at his remains, as for them, he was a thief.
Both stories have one thing in common: losing faith.
Faith is always connected to trust. Trusting somebody is trusting God. Trusting God is having faith. And having faith is believing that in proper time, you will have what you have been dreaming of.. like success. You just need the patience for the sometimes long wait.
Haste makes waste.
