Just to humor…

Filipinos are known in the world as happy people. But with today’s very complicated and stressful lifestyles, just a day out in the city and lack of sleep (probably because of work) is enough to make someone’s brain rock with so much pressure. Not to mention, the panacea of vices lurking here, there and everywhere preventing us to be the finest among the bests that we can be. Eating a balanced diet and having a regular exercise are already a cliché to suggest, aside from being too costly (what if your budget is too tight?). And because not everyone has the penny to spend to make their lives “complete”, stressors start to plague everyone in the society… and to prevent myself from getting too much infected, no matter how tiring and gruesome my day had been, I always see to it that I will not last that day without having a good laugh. Yes. A good and very hearty laugh. The kind that could make your grey matter spurt out of the skull in the manner you don’t even think possible (eww, that’s pretty gross!). That thing which the depressed ones (just my opinion) has said to be the best medicine – laughter.

Why do we laugh? Is it our muscles’ own will to get themselves exercised? Is it just an impulsive reaction which you do to let someone know that he’s being noticed, at the same time, to annoy him? Or is it just another one of those facades that we build to hide our miseries? Or just another way for us to get noticed too? The reasons could be endless though I only have but one. I laugh because I want to be free of just anything..hehe

Q : “What did the elephant ask the camel?”
A: Why are your boobs on your back?!?
Q: What did the camel tell the elephant?”
A: What a funny question from someone whose penis is on his nose!

Here’s another one:

One day, Tarzan and some monkeys in the jungle decided to take a fresh dip in the cool river water. Naked and was so ready to jump, Tarzan noticed that the monkeys were all giggling..
Tarzan: What are you laughing about?
Monkeys: Oh, nothing! It’s just that..your tail is in front!

For those who find the above jokes offending, my sincere apology. And to those who enjoyed and took effort to stretch their muscles even just to smile, my empathy goes with you. Admit it or not, it somehow stirred your minds too ( like it did to me when I first read it).

Humor and laughing open the rooms for hoping. It is a security that you are not contained in a box. It brings out the wittiness hidden deep within you. It is an assurance that you are a feeling individual. It frees us all from the boredom that we deal with our daily routines. It helps us relax and calm on times when we’re lost and confused. It lightens every heavy situation. It breaks the ice. It is an affirmation of dignity..

However, it is also conspicuous how most of today’s humor emanates from human’s negativity. Notice the patterns of some gag and “home funny videos” shows. If you’ve got that grotesque feature, you’re in for a group of hearty laughing people. If you’re good at making funny faces (and making other people look funny too! ), you’re a crowd drawer. We laugh on everyone’s ugly aspects. We do criticize foolishness…and we get amused by it too. We giggle at someone’s mistakes. We cackle at somebody’s uniqueness. We snort at ideas we can’t comprehend. And “green jokes” tickle our imaginations. Some get offended, some just shrug their shoulders.

But no matter what the stereotyping is, it cannot be denied that humor is a sweet part of our existence. Laugh at your own mistakes, but learn from them. Joke over your troubles but gather strengths from them. Make fun of your difficulties but overcome them. It is a vital ingredient for success..

And if I may quote William Makepeace Takeray, “good humor may be said to be one of the very best articles one can wear in a society.”

So if you want to be the best dressed person in the crowd, head now for the best suit – humor.

"Sense of Humor is important to Success. "
